Suzuki DR650S—A Benchmark-Setting Bike in the Class

The Suzuki DR65S is a lightweight, compact, rigid semi-double cradle frame providing agile handling on and off-road.

The lack of technology on the bike is both a strength and a weakness. While its simplicity makes it convenient to work on, it lacks the sophistication of the latest technological buzzwords. But that doesn’t prevent the motorcycle from being ready to depart at a moment’s notice.

The DR650S’s small gasoline tank and the fact that Suzuki doesn’t provide bags are the only things keeping it from being classified as an entry-level adventure bike.

The factory mirrors are prominent and work well on the road but won’t hold up well in the dirt.

Suzuki DR650S features a compact, powerful 644cc, SOHC, four-stroke, air-cooled engine with Advanced Cooling System (SACS). This powerful engine helps in excellent performance in off-roading conditions. The bore/stroke is 100.0 mm × 82.0 mm, and the compression ratio is 9.5:1.

The most premium Suzuki DR650S has a bright 60/55-watt halogen headlight. The bike has Mikuni BST40, a single carburetor fuel system. The bike is powered by a lightweight and compact, low-maintenance battery.

An electric starter and an automatic, low-maintenance decompression mechanism make simple and quick ignition possible.

Unrestricted airflow is made possible by the enormous Mikuni 40mm carburetor, which also offers an immediate throttle response. Thanks to the rack-and-pinion system, the clutch is easy to pull and performs precisely.

The transmission of the bike is taken care of by a five-speed gearbox. The bike has a smooth-shifting transmission that ensures an easy-pull clutch, making it easy to ride on any road.

At the rear, there’s a link-type rear suspension with a piggyback style and an aluminum-body shock absorber which aids in stable performance. The height adjustable shock gets adjustable spring preload and compression damping that help the rider change the suspension as power the riding needs, weight, and terrain.

Both the front and rear suspension offers wheel travel of 260 mm.

The bike stops via 290mm front floating disc brakes, a two-piston caliper, and 240 mm rear disc brakes with a two-piston caliper. This braking specification works to provide reliable stopping power.
